Here's a review from the website Unsung Hero
Kristin Hersh did it. Bob Mould did it. Paul Weller did
it. Now the next generation of under-recognized alt.rock bands are winding down,
and Buffalo Tom singer-songwriter-guitarist Bill Janovitz's Up Here bodes well
for the next wave of frontperson solo efforts. The disc's raw recording conveys
the intimacy of a weeknight performance in a smoky bar. Janovtiz and female
backing singer Chris Toppin harmonize infectiously in "Goodnight, Wherever
You Are" and "Half A Heart," and only "Up Here" seems
like an unplugged Buffalo Tom song. Janovitz's second solo disc lacks the edginess
of his predecessors, a quiet, traditional acoustic set exploring the harmony
in life's quiet moments.
